The Municipality of Antigua improves public safety and minimizes the number of incidents and criminal acts.

– The Mayor convenes a new Security Board of the Municipality of Antigua to take stock of the measures implemented and to know the current status of incidents.
– The Municipality of Antigua and especially Caleta de Fuste show a considerable drop in the number of incidents, criminal acts or robberies.
– The coordination between the security forces, as well as security measures adopted by some companies, entertainment venues and resorts, allow a positive balance in public safety, which we must maintain, says the mayor.
– Matías Peña highlights the work and coordination between the Captaincy of the Civil Guard and the Deputy Chief Inspector of the Local Police, as well as the agents involved in this common effort.

Antigua maintains regular prevention and security commissions, celebrating this Thursday morning, July 10, a new Security Board of the Municipality of Antigua, chaired by the Mayor, Matias Peña Garcia and the Insular Director of the General Administration of the State, Maria Jesus De La Cruz Montserrat, with the participation of the captain of the Civil Guard in Fuerteventura, Pedro Peinado and the Deputy Chief Inspector of the Local Police, Domingo Fránquiz.

The mayor began the meeting by highlighting the work and coordination between the Captaincy of the Civil Guard and the Deputy Chief Inspector of the Local Police, as well as the agents involved in this common effort to improve public safety. This Security Board in the Municipality fulfills the commitment of the parties to monitor and balance the measures taken and their results, and added the mayor, there is no better result than the one provided at this meeting, on the significant decrease in the number of incidents, especially those relating to robberies with violence or criminal acts.

Antigua and Caleta de Fuste are preferred destinations for family groups precisely because they are considered a safe, comfortable and quality destination, and this is the profile on which all parties must work together, a profile that respects the neighbors of each town and its surroundings.

The measures adopted, increasing the number of street lights, improving streets and roads, increasing police presence and implementing a centralized video surveillance camera system, together with the active and passive security measures that some of the establishments, businesses and mainly hotel and apartment complexes are beginning to adopt, have undoubtedly led to this positive result, and the mayor concludes, a result that we must not lower our guard against but that shows the way, working together with security forces, municipal services and business and tourism agents present in each locality.
