The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, received on Thursday morning, July 15, the visit of the Commander of the Naval Auxiliary in Fuerteventura, José Carlos Pastor, for the presentation of the informative and preventive campaign that is carried out at national level, on the precautions to be taken in case of finding unexploded explosive devices at the bottom of the sea.

The Mayor, David de Vera, emphasized “the collaboration of the city council with different Administrations in the promotion and diffusion of preventive campaigns, with the objective of informing the citizens and guaranteeing the security in the supposed cases of the finding of this kind of artifacts”.
The Commander of the Naval Auxiliary in Fuerteventura, José Carlos Pastor, stated that “the Navy has Groups of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialists who act immediately in this type of action, and these campaigns contribute to informing the population about the protocol to be followed in these situations”.
The information leaflets detail the cylindrical or spherical shape or the green, gray or black color that an explosive device may have, which should never be handled and before which it is best to turn off any electrical device, the most effective action being to beacon without contact, move away and give notice, whether found on a beach or seabed, with the Navy’s specialized teams arriving in less than 24 hours.
