– The mayor explains to the most affected neighbors the steps taken by the Municipality of Antigua.
– Mayor and councilors of the Municipal Corporation accompanied the neighbors in the protest rally held this Thursday, next to the land on which the company installing the telephone antenna operates.
The mayor, Matías Peña, accompanied by the councilors of the Municipal Corporation, participated this Thursday afternoon, in the neighborhood concentration of protest against the installation of a communication repeater antenna on the road of Las Piletas, a short distance from the houses of Antigua.
Matías Peña explained personally and directly to the concentrated neighbors, the meetings held between the installation company and the legal services of the City Council of Antigua.
The law protects the company that installs telephone antennas, as the action is qualified of General Interest, and operates within the legal parameters established by this state regulation. That said, the mayor pointed out, and as a result of these meetings, we managed not to install it in the urban center of Antigua, and we offered them alternative sites that were rejected in the face of the private offer in this location.
The Municipality of Antigua, as well as the neighbors, do not reject the installation of a repeater antenna as a guarantee of the telephone signal, but we are opposed to the location chosen near the houses.
We will maintain the meetings with the responsible installers, insisting on alternative locations and trying to avoid what we consider an imposition to the people of Antigua, concludes the mayor, Matias Peña.
