The celebrations of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and Playa de la Cebada will have 43 cameras at strategic points.
The City Council of Pájara takes an important step in terms of public safety with the installation of a total of forty-three video surveillance cameras in the area around the Plaza de Los Pescadores and its surroundings, including the alley, the avenue, San Miguel street and the entire parking lot.
This action has involved a total investment of 15,400 euros, aimed at ensuring greater security during the celebration of public events and, especially, in the framework of the festivities of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the festival of Playa de la Cebada.
Yesterday, the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola Garcia, the mayor of Pájara, Alejandro Jorge, the first Deputy Mayor, Alexis Alonso, the Councillor for Safety and Emergencies, Raimundo Dacosta, and the Councillor for Culture, Raquel Acosta, presented this new device of cameras, which will be fully operational during the festivities. The system will allow police forces to act more effectively in the event of any eventuality.
Mayor Alejandro Jorge stresses the importance of “continuing to increase resources for public protection”. “From the municipal prism, and with the competences that correspond to us, Pájara sets an example of what it means to incorporate human and material means to strengthen prevention and public order”, he adds.
For his part, the councilman of Security and Emergencies, Raimundo Dacosta emphasizes that “the installation of these cameras not only improves the capacity of immediate response to possible incidents, but also has a deterrent effect that contributes to the prevention of unwanted situations”.
Also, the Councillor for Culture, Raquel Acosta, said that with these measures our parties “will have a safer environment that will allow neighbors and tourists to enjoy each of the scheduled activities”.
The installation of this surveillance system responds to the City Council’s commitment to prevention and continuous improvement of security in situations of high citizen concentration.
