The City Council of La Oliva, through the binomial Environment and Tourism, led by David Fajardo, presents an innovative initiative of public-private partnership for the care and protection of the natural environment of the island. The project, which comes to light after more than a year of management, provides Limpiaventura with a HILUX all-terrain vehicle.

With this endowment, the association will continue to perform its usual work of waste collection along the coast of Fuerteventura. It should also be noted that a few years ago the Department of Environment provided Limpiaventura with a trailer through a similar sponsorship model, laying the foundations of this collaboration strategy.

The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, emphasizes: “this project symbolizes the type of useful policy that we defend: to join efforts, unite wills and strengthen those who are already working for a cleaner and more sustainable municipality”. He added that “the fight for the environment is an issue that challenges us all, the neighbors but also the visitors to our island and that is why we celebrate this collective achievement with pride”.

For his part, the councilman of Environment and Tourism, David Fajardo, highlights the inspiring work done by Limpiaventura over the years: “They are an example of real commitment. People who, without asking for anything in return, have been cleaning beaches and different natural areas for years. From the City Council, we understood that our responsibility was not only to applaud them, but to provide them with resources that allow them to go further and do it better”.

In addition, Fajardo emphasizes the ultimate goal of the project, an approach that goes beyond a specific action in time: “Through this initiative we not only improve the work carried out by Limpiaventura but we put on the table a model that can be replicated wherever it is needed. This is a clear example that the synergy between the business network, the City Council and the associations is possible, if the objective is to work for the care of our most precious asset, nature.”

This action thus reaffirms the commitment to participatory governance, where partnerships with citizen groups and local companies become a fundamental tool to move towards a more respectful, conscious and fair development model. An initiative that invites replication in favor of environmental awareness and a society that recognizes its active role in changing the rules of the game by virtue of a responsible citizenship with its natural ecosystem.
