The Church of Our Lady of La Antigua celebrated the funeral mass for H.H. Pope Francis, presiding the ceremony the Bishop of the Diocese of the Canary Islands, D. José Mazuelos Pérez, together with the archdiocese of Fuerteventura.
The mayor, Matias Peña, thanked the Diocese of the Canary Islands, choosing the Church of Our Lady of La Antigua to celebrate the funeral of Pope Francis.
Solemnity and silence in a Church that added to the usual pews the necessary chairs to accommodate all the attendees to a simple and close Eucharist that was attended by the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, the host mayor, Matias Peña, the Government Delegate, Maria Jesus De la Cruz, the mayors of Betancuria, Enrice Cerdeña, Puerto del Rosario, David De Vera, accidental mayor of Pájara, Alexis Alonso, mayor of Tuineje, Candelaria Umpierrez, among other representatives, councilors, councilors and deputies, along with the main representatives of the Security Forces in Fuerteventura.
The mayor, Matías Peña, together with the parish priest of Antigua, Heriberto Martín Molina, welcomed the Bishop of the Canary Islands, who thanked during the service the collaboration provided by the City Council of Antigua, the volunteers of the parish, the singing group, and the media such as Puerto Radio, Dunas Fm or TV Canaria, who gave coverage or broadcast live this special and significant Eucharist.
