Agricultural tractors perform excavations at regular intervals for the subsequent placement of trees.
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, from the Service of Works and Machinery, is carrying out work to support farmers majoreros. The agricultural tractors are destined these days to carry out excavations for the subsequent planting of fruit trees in Rosa de los James.
“This work is crucial to promote agricultural activity, diversify the economy, advance food sovereignty and improve the retention of fertile land in Fuerteventura,” says the Councilor for Works and Machinery, Blas Acosta.
The Service has programmed the performance of agricultural tractors at the request of farmers, thus responding to their need to reduce costs in order to carry out the harvest without causing the financial collapse of the farm. In this sense, the work of the Cabildo’s agricultural tractors responds to a cooperative logic where the costs of purchasing large machinery do not fall on each owner.
The excavations for the planting of fruit trees that are being carried out in Rosa de los James maintain a regular interval to maximize space and ensure optimal development of each specimen, with sufficient space to develop and produce fruit. In addition, this linear system facilitates their care and the harvesting of the product.
