This employment plan provides a job opportunity to 13 unemployed people, who work on the repair, refurbishment and cleaning of stations, preferential stops and bus shelters throughout the island territory
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura improves the transport infrastructure of island ownership, thanks to the employment plan ‘The Cabildo improves your travel’. A program launched by the Department of Employment Promotion, directed by Nuria Cabrera, and that offers a job opportunity to thirteen unemployed people who, for a year, perform tasks of repair, conditioning and cleaning of stations, preferential stops and shelters throughout the island. A public service work highly demanded by the citizens.
The program has an investment of 369,733.23 euros, co-financed by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the Government of the Canary Islands, through the resources of the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN).
This employment plan is carried out in coordination with the Transport area of the Cabildo, directed by Luis González, which has made it possible, since March 2025, to take the actions to transport infrastructures throughout the island’s territory.
The repair and cleaning works have been carried out in the bus stations of Morro Jable, Puerto del Rosario and Corralejo, as well as in the preferential stops of Cotillo, Gran Tarajal and Caleta de Fuste. At the Caleta de Fuste bus stop, the general cleaning of the facilities and their surroundings has been carried out. In the garden areas, cleaning work was carried out, as well as pruning and phytosanitary treatment of palm trees. General maintenance actions were also carried out, including the repair of furniture, the painting of curbs and road delimitations in the access area, as well as the repair of the irrigation system, among other actions.
In the first three months of the program, work has also been carried out on bus shelters in more than forty localities in the northern, central and southern areas of the island.
