Successfully completed the course of local fishing pattern that has been developed in the facilities of the Fishermen’s Association of Gran Tarajal since last November. A training action co-financed by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and Coastal Action Group, with an investment of 28,000 euros.
The insular president, Lola García, presented the diplomas yesterday, congratulating the participants of a course that allows them to enter the fishing sector that is part of our economy and local identity. It also meets one of the historical demands for training on the island that the different guilds have been making, because the people who have completed the training have avoided the trip to Lanzarote to obtain the title.
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Matias Peña, has highlighted the value of a course that is necessary to obtain the title that allows to act as captain, skipper and chief engineer, which facilitates the preservation of this traditional sector in Fuerteventura.
The presentation of diplomas was also attended by Lorenzo Brito, the main skipper of the Cofradía de Gran Tarajal and president of the Federación de Cofradías de Cofradías de Pescadores de Canarias (Federation of Fishermen’s Guilds of the Canary Islands).
