The City Council of Puerto del Rosario has taken this Monday, April 28, a decisive step for the future of La Matilla by signing the act of commencement of work on the project of “Demolition of the old Cultural Center of La Matilla”. This facility, which had been presenting serious structural problems for years, had ceased to be a safe space for the use of the neighbors.
This action is the first milestone in the process of building a new cultural center, modern and adapted to current needs, which will be returned to the people of La Matilla as a meeting place, social revitalization and community development.
The Town Council emphasizes that this intervention responds to a historical demand of the town, and that it constitutes a significant advance to improve the quality of life in the municipality, especially in La Matilla and its surroundings.
“We know how important it is to have places that encourage coexistence and cultural activity, and that is why this project was a priority,” said Mayor David de Vera, who also wanted to thank the support and patience shown by the residents of La Matilla throughout the process.
For her part, the Councilor for Works, Ana Hernandez, stressed the municipal commitment to the renovation of public infrastructure: “the new center will be an engine of social, cultural and educational activity, open to all,” said Hernandez, who stressed the importance of investing in accessible and modern public facilities.
The demolition of the old building will be carried out applying all safety measures and respecting the environment, and the City Council plans to award the project for the construction of the new center in the coming weeks, with work scheduled to begin this year.
With this action, Puerto del Rosario reinforces its commitment to spaces of coexistence and citizen participation, looking to the future of its towns and neighborhoods and strengthening the social fabric of the entire municipality.
