The initial approval of the catalog involves the creation of a legal and technical framework to protect more than 800 assets of historical, architectural, ethnographic, archaeological and landscape value in the municipality. The document has been prepared by professionals and coordinated from the area of Historical Heritage of the City Council.
The City Council of Puerto del Rosario has approved this Monday afternoon, May 19, in an extraordinary plenary session, the Catalog of Protection of Cultural Heritage Assets, a document unpublished until now in the municipality, which will identify, evaluate and legally protect its tangible and intangible heritage.
The initial approval of the catalog represents a decisive step towards preserving the historical legacy of Puerto del Rosario, and consolidates a public management instrument that will be key in the design of future urban, cultural and environmental policies.
Rigorous technical work coordinated by the Heritage area.
The catalog includes a total of 843 files, documenting architectural assets, ethnographic elements, archaeological and paleontological sites, historic fortifications, traditional trails and landscapes with cultural value. All this content has been prepared by specialized professionals and supervised by the Department of Historical Heritage of the City Council.
“This catalog represents a milestone for Puerto del Rosario. It protects our history and offers us a clear and updated tool to make responsible decisions about the territory. The process has been long, but we have developed it with responsibility, technical rigor and institutional sense,” explained the councilman of Historical Heritage, David de León.
During the drafting process, the City Council also adopted precautionary measures, such as the optional suspension of urban planning licenses in certain areas, in order to avoid alterations or damage to assets in the process of evaluation and cataloguing.
Heritage protection as a present and future commitment.
The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, stressed that this new document is “a sign of the commitment of the City Council with the preservation of the cultural identity of the municipality, from a perspective of responsible and sustainable development”. “The history of Puerto del Rosario deserves to be protected. This catalog is not only a legal obligation, but also a useful tool to guide future decisions in urban planning, tourism and culture, respecting the environment and what represents us as a community,” said the mayor.
The document will now be submitted to the process of public exposure and allegations, before its final approval.
