The City Council of Puerto del Rosario and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) have signed this Wednesday, April 9, a Collaboration Framework Agreement that establishes a framework of institutional cooperation for the development of joint projects in the academic, research and training fields. The signing took place in a ceremony held in the municipality, with the presence of representatives of both institutions.
The agreement contemplates the promotion of collaborative programs, the joint use of resources and the implementation of initiatives aimed at knowledge, innovation and the improvement of services to citizens. This strategic alliance is aimed at consolidating a stronger educational and training environment in the capital’s municipality.
During the ceremony, the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, stressed the importance of the agreement as a starting point for a sustained institutional relationship: “we have been working together with the ULPGC for some time and this agreement is just the beginning of a long history of collaboration. It is a fundamental tool not only in the academic and research fields, but also in the commitment of the local administration to improve the training and welfare of our neighbors”.
For his part, the rector of the ULPGC, Luis Serra, stressed the willingness of the university to actively participate in the development of Fuerteventura:“We are here with a very strong representation from the Board of Trustees, and that reflects the University’s commitment to the island. With the help of all the administrations, including the City Council of Puerto del Puerto del Sol. Rosario, we will be able to move forward with concrete projects such as the micro-credentials and research actions that are already underway”.
The City Councilor for Education, Juan Manuel Verdugo, also expressed his satisfaction with this new stage of collaboration: “It is a great satisfaction for me to establish this link with the University of Las Palmas. This agreement will be a pillar to intensify the relationship between both institutions. We are committed to knowledge as a driving force for the future of our young people. Although we are a smaller island, we aspire to grow through culture and education”.
With this agreement, the City Council of Puerto del Rosario reaffirms its commitment to education, institutional cooperation and the promotion of opportunities for the personal and professional development of its citizens.
