The initiative, framed within the State Pact against Gender Violence, will offer attention and awareness at local events.
The City Council of Pájara, through the Department of Social Services, and in collaboration with the Federation of Women’s Associations Arena and Laurisilva, will launch in the coming months six Violet Points in different areas of the municipality.
This initiative is part of the institutional commitment to equality and the eradication of gender violence. It is financed by the State Pact against Gender Violence and the City Council’s own funds.
The Violet Points are safe spaces designed to prevent, raise awareness and accompany people who may be in situations of gender violence. These will be present in six events to be held in different population centers, offering information, care and referral to those who need it.
In addition, as part of the actions promoted from the City Council to promote awareness and female empowerment, is the project ‘Women of the Sea’, a workshop aimed at women in the municipality. Those interested in participating can register by calling or sending a WhatsApp to 628763838, from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm, or by writing to email serviciossociales@pajara.es. The registration period will be open until Monday, July 7 at 12:00 noon.
The Councilor for Social Services, Kathaisa Rodríguez, affirms the implementation of these measures as “a firm step towards a safer, more egalitarian and violence-free municipality”. In addition, she remarks that “we want every festive space and every corner of our towns to be a place where all women feel protected and listened to”.
For his part, the mayor of Pájara, Alejandro Jorge, stresses that “real equality is built from action”. He also states that with this initiative “we move towards a society where the rights of all are respected. This is a political and social priority for the City Council”.
In this sense, the Consistory wants to thank the collaboration and coordination of the Department of Culture and the Department of Festivities, essential for the planning and integration of the Violet Points in the calendar of popular events in the municipality.
