The day allowed the beach to be cleaned of debris washed up by sea currents and garbage abandoned by visitors.
The City Council of Pájara, through the Departments of Environment and Beaches, reaffirms its commitment to the protection of the natural environment by participating one more year in the day “Limpia Cofete”, held last Sunday, May 25.
The activity, promoted by the environmental volunteer group Limpiaventura, collected an entire truckload of waste from the emblematic Cofete Beach. Among the waste removed were large quantities of plastics, fishing nets and large containers such as tubes, elements coming from both marine currents and the uncivic behavior of some visitors who leave garbage in an environment of high ecological value.
The councilor for the Environment, Ángeles Acosta, values positively the result of the day. “It is a sign of collective responsibility that we must assume to protect our natural heritage. This action shows that, when institutions and citizens work hand in hand, it is possible to generate a real impact on the environment and move towards a more sustainable model of coexistence, she says.
For his part, the councilman of Beaches, Raimundo Dacosta, stresses that “this type of activities not only help to keep our coastline in the best conditions, but also reinforces environmental awareness and citizen participation”.
The day was developed under the premise of “free of single-use plastics”, and culminated with a community paella in an atmosphere of coexistence and environmental respect.
The success of this action reaffirms the need to keep spaces like Cofete free of waste and highlights the value of continuing to promote actions that combine environmental awareness, citizen participation and direct action.
