The City Council promotes this intergenerational initiative focused on creativity, inclusion and strengthening the social fabric.
The City Council of Pájara, through the Department of the Elderly, has concluded with great success the creative workshop ‘Your voice in fabric’, developed in three days and conceived as an open, participatory and inclusive experience. The activity was led by instructors Beatriz Bgangu and Idaira Reyes, who provided a safe and creative environment for all participants.
The main objective of this workshop was to encourage personal and collective artistic expression through the design and personalization of tote bags. The initiative allowed the participants to reflect and capture their ideas, emotions and values in fabrics on themes such as equality, the environment, diversity and individual dreams.
The Councilor for the Elderly, Raquel Acosta, highlighted both the inclusive approach and the human impact of the workshop. “From the City Council we are firmly committed to initiatives that favor active participation and universal access to culture. This project has been an example of how art can become a tool for integration, dialogue and collective construction,” she stressed.
He also pointed out that “it has been especially meaningful to see how people of different ages and backgrounds have shared this space with respect, creativity and generosity.
For her part, one of the instructors, Beatriz Bgangu, added that “Your voice in cloth was not just a workshop, it was an act of collective courage. Each cloth has given color and life to emotions that had no name, to stories that were not always told. It has been a space to heal with art, to look at ourselves without judgment and to recognize ourselves from tenderness”.
Each of the sessions included reflection dynamics, sketching, textile design and a final exhibition in which the participants shared the meaning of their creations. This methodology promoted not only creativity, but also active listening, empathy and social cohesion.
