The Security Team of La Oliva, specifically, the Local Police, has arrested a 27 year old man for a crime against public health. The detainee was not only driving under the influence of alcohol with a rate above 0.75 milligrams per book of exhaled air, but also carried inside the vehicle 8 packages allegedly containing narcotic substances.
This work of detection of drug use or possession was possible thanks to the joint work of the security forces together with the UCAN (Canine Unit) of the Local Police and under the leadership of the mayor and councilor of the area, Isaí Blanco. After the search and localization by the canines Kata and Niko, the Local Police arrested the young man and he was brought to court for the crimes of Public Health and against Road Safety.
So far in 2025, the Local Police of La Oliva has processed complaints to more than 300 people for consumption or possession of narcotic substances on public roads, a figure that already exceeds the total for the entire year 2024. Thus, it is evident not only the incorporation of the UCAN but also the intensification of police work in the fight against drug dealing in the municipality, with the aim of ensuring public safety and protect the welfare of residents.
The Local Police of La Oliva reminds citizens of the importance of respecting traffic regulations and collaborating with the authorities.
