The City Council of La Oliva, through the Department of Public Safety, led by Mayor Isaí Blanco, creates a first aid post on the island of Lobos. With the collaboration of the Cabildo Insular de Fuerteventura, through the transfer of land to provide the service, it responds to a growing demand for assistance to visitors to the island in case of emergency.
According to the Civil Protection Service, calls requiring assistance for injuries, dizziness and dehydration on the island have increased by 30%, requiring in 70% of situations the displacement of emergency personnel from Fuerteventura with an average response time of 45 minutes. This implantation solves, therefore, the response time in case of incident, providing the visitor an early attention in case of accident.
The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, stresses the need to respond to the demand of the population for an assistance service for small incidents that may happen to visitors to the island: “Through the implementation of this post, we continue with the increase of services by the area of Security and Emergencies, we provide visitors with early assistance and reduce the waiting time in case of need for first aid”.
“In addition, the objective is to continue improving this point of attention also in terms of care for the environment, as we intend to incorporate material insisting on our efforts to preserve the environment,” said the mayor.
This action continues with the local government’s commitment to improve safety in the municipality.
