La Oliva environmental attitude’ launches the campaign “Enjoy it without leaving a footprint” to raise awareness about the protection of the natural environment

The City Council of La Oliva, through the Department of Environment, managed by David Fajardo, launches during the months of April and May the environmental awareness campaign “Enjoy it without leaving a trace”. The aim is to raise awareness among neighbors and visitors about the importance of respecting the natural areas of the municipality, especially in times of great affluence as Easter and the beginning of the summer season.

The initiative includes a powerful promotional video that will be disseminated in social networks, schools, tourist information points and local media where the figure of the environmental guides along with the residents of the municipality put at the center of awareness about the care of our environment. It gives voice to a message of love and respect for Fuerteventura, remembering that the island “has belonged to time and not to us”, and that our footprint -however small it may seem- can leave irreversible scars.

A message that appeals to collective responsibility

With an emotional narrative, the video denounces practices such as leaving the trails, moving stones or collecting protected rhodoliths, warning of the environmental impact that these acts generate: “What some call memories, for the island is a great loss”. The campaign reminds that the natural balance depends on everyone, and concludes with a call to action: “Do not leave footprints. Let’s protect what makes us unique”.

The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, stressed that: “We want those who visit La Oliva to fall in love with its beauty, but also to understand that this beauty is fragile. With this campaign we appeal to the collective commitment so that every step we take in our natural spaces is respectful and conscious”.

For his part, the Councilor for the Environment, David Fajardo, stressed: “It is essential to change the way we relate to nature. Small gestures such as not moving a stone, not taking a shell or respecting the trails, have a huge impact on the conservation of our ecosystems. This campaign, within the framework of the action plan ‘La Oliva environmental attitude’ wants to sow that awareness in every person who steps on our beaches and mountains”.
