The City Council of La Oliva, through the Department of Social Services, led by Joana Perez Carreño, and with the collaboration of ALTIHAY Fuerteventura, celebrates the LGTBIQ+ Pride with the inauguration of an urban element dyed in the rainbow colors of the flag of the collective. This year, the LGTBIQ+ PRIDE is celebrated commemorating 20 years of approval of equal marriage, 20 years of progress in rights, and is celebrated in all towns and in all cities of the Canary Islands – Spain, under the slogan “Proud to be LGTBI+ beyond the big cities”.
Under this premise, the aim is to make visible the affective-sexual and gender diversity in the big cities, thus choosing the town of Villaverde to highlight a message of pride, inclusion and respect in the municipality of La Oliva.
For her part, the Councilor for Social Services, Joana Pérez Carreño, emphasizes: “This symbolic gesture reflects our commitment to equality and the right of all people to live freely their affective-sexual orientation and/or gender identity”.
This action responds to the commitment of the local government not only for the celebration of the LGTBIQ+ Pride month, but also to continue with the visibility of the collective in society.
