The European network ALL DIGITAL visits the island to learn about its potential in innovation and digital skills.
The board of ALL DIGITAL, a leading European network in the development of digital competences, carried out an institutional visit to Fuerteventura between April 2 and 6, 2025, with the aim of strengthening ties and exploring opportunities for collaboration with local institutions and agents in the field of digital transformation.
The Councilor for New Technologies, Carmen Alonso, received the members of ALL DIGITAL and its president, Altheo Valentini, opening new avenues of collaboration to promote the transformation and digital inclusion in Fuerteventura.
Carmen Alonso Saavedra, highlighted the importance of this visit: “For Fuerteventura is an honor to receive the Board of ALL DIGITAL. This visit represents a unique opportunity to show the potential of our island in the field of innovation and digital inclusion. We are convinced that the exchange of knowledge and the exploration of possible collaborations with a European network as prestigious as ALL DIGITAL will be of great value to boost the technological and social development of our Island. “
Altheo Valentini highlighted Fuerteventura and its network of telecenters ‘Seed’ as an example in Europe, in terms of projects that bring digital skills and training to all citizens, especially in rural or isolated areas. In this sense, they have opened the possibility of exchanges with monitors of the Seed Network, to transfer this experience to other territories.
Members of ALL DIGITAL visited the telecenter in Antigua. This meeting allowed them to learn about the operation of the Network of Digital Competence Centers “Red Semilla” and its important work in the digital inclusion of local citizens.
Afterwards, the board of directors visited the Fuerteventura Technology Park, where they were able to get a close look at the facilities and innovative projects being developed on the island. This visit provided a valuable opportunity to identify possible synergies and future collaborations in areas such as technology, sustainability and social innovation.
The day continued at the Palacio de Formación y Congresos de Fuerteventura, where the Board of Directors held an internal working session in the afternoon. In this context, was also present the general director of the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society, Javier Franco Hormiga, who stressed the commitment of the Government of the Canary Islands with the digital development of the islands: “From the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society, we greatly appreciate the visit of the Board of ALL DIGITAL to Fuerteventura. His interest in learning about local initiatives and explore ways of collaboration is excellent news for the digital future of the Canary Islands. We are convinced that, working together with prestigious European networks such as ALL DIGITAL, we can further boost the digital skills of our citizens and strengthen our innovation ecosystem, aligned with our Digital Agenda for the Canary Islands based on Skills, Competitiveness and Connectivity”.
ALL DIGITAL, based in Brussels, represents more than 110 member organizations in 29 European countries, working to improve the digital skills of citizens. Through its network, it provides digital training and support to more than 2.3 million people a year, with a special focus on vulnerable groups. The visit to Fuerteventura underlines ALL DIGITAL’s commitment to territorial cooperation and the promotion of digital inclusion in all regions of Europe.
The ALL DIGITAL Board delegation was composed of: Altheo Valentini (Chairman), Žarko Čižmar, Veronique de Leener, Achilles Kameas, Katrin Schuberth, Iva Walterova, Guillem Porres Canals, and was attended by Executive Director – CEO, David Mekkaoui, and Chief Operating Officer – COO, Peter Palvolgyi.
