On the morning of Thursday, July 10, a meeting was held to coordinate the deployment of fiber optic in the municipality of Puerto del Rosario attended: Juan Flores, territorial director of Telefonica in the Canary Islands, Jose Francisco Ruiz and Jesus Fernandez as Commercial Director of Avatel Canarias, the Councillor for Spatial Planning Nereida Calero and the Councillor for New Technologies Carmen Alonso of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Javier Franco, Director General of the Canary Islands Research Agency of the Canary Islands Government, Carlos Couro President Association of Telecommunications Engineers, Rosa Rodriguez Councillor for New Technologies of the City of Puerto del Rosario and David de Vera, mayor of the municipality.
The meeting established the coordination in the deployment of the Plan for the implementation of fiber optics in the Municipality of Puerto del Rosario, through the Universalization Program of Digital Infrastructure for Cohesion (UNICO) is an action framed in Investment 1 of Component 15 of the Recovery Plan, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) of the Spanish economy and co-financed by the European Union – Next Generation EU, with funds from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism established by Regulation (EU) 2021/241 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 February 2021.
The objective of this meeting is divided into three parts:
First. See execution status of the UNICO 2021, 2022 and 2023 plans awarded to Movistar and Avatel.
Second. To make known the planning established by the City Council of Puerto del Rosario for the deployment of fiber optics and broadband in the municipality, as well as to establish strategies for joint collaboration.
Third. To initiate procedures for the elimination or restitution of fiber poles and overhead lines that cause visual and landscape impact in the municipality.
