Bianca Scarpari, Insular Crafts Award 2025
– Thank you for an award that encourages me to continue sewing stories that speak of this land.
Bianca Scarpari, received this Sunday morning, the Insular Crafts Award 2025, wrapped behind her back by Los Gofiones and in front of a generous audience in which were her colleagues and fellow artisans, her students, her loved ones, and with her on stage, giving her the Gánigo that represents this Fair and this Craft Award, the mayor of Antigua, Matias Peña, the president of the Collective Mafasca, Nereida Brito and the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola Garcia.
Excited this strong, simple and humble woman, read a few words, written to not forget thanks, and in which he glimpsed the stitches of the trajectory of a life that brought him to Fuerteventura, which is his home today, his family and his refuge as a workshop where he sews every day with his beloved students ‘pieces of fabric and life’.
I receive this award with great humility, as a push to continue creating, to continue sewing stories that speak of this land and its people. Because as I always say, the hands that create, also heal, and what is done with love, always finds its place’.
The applause and congratulatory hugs for Bianca Scarpari, who also received a gift from the craftsmen and craftswomen of the Island Crafts Fair, thanking her for her humanity and always willingness to help, were not long in coming.
