Antigua suspends all municipal outdoor activities due to a High Temperature Warning.
– The Sports Mornings are suspended while the High Temperature Alert issued by the Government of the Canary Islands is maintained.
– Maximum temperatures are expected to probably reach or exceed 34 – 38ºC.
The City Council of Antigua following the instructions of the Government of the Canary Islands to the activation of the Alert for High Temperatures throughout the region, suspends all municipal outdoor activities from this afternoon of Wednesday July 16 and until further notice or favorable change in the weather alert.
The measure affects especially the Sports Mornings that are suspended this Thursday in Caleta de Fuste and Antigua until further notice from Emergencias Canarias.
The situation decreed is of Alert for maximum temperatures with an important risk level, based on the prediction of the State Meteorological Agency, AEMET, and in application of the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena.
Maximum temperatures are expected to reach or exceed 34 and 38ºC, so it is recommended to protect yourself from the sun, rest in cool and ventilated places, wear light clothing that is not tight and drink water.
