Antigua concludes before the neighborhood lawyer that it is not and will not go beyond the framework of the law.
If a single councilman of the Antigua City Council considers that the precautionary suspension of this installation is legally protected, let him sign it, says the mayor, Matías Peña.
The objective and interest of the Municipality of Antigua is to stop the installation of the antenna in the current location, but not going over the law.
– The Antigua Town Council managed to avoid the installation in the urban nucleus of other towns, and proposed alternatives to the one finally chosen by the installation company.
– The Municipality of Antigua will continue to work on alternatives and legal options that can avoid or stop the actions at the current site.
This Wednesday morning, at the Antigua Town Hall, the mayor, accompanied by councilors of the Government Group, held a meeting with the lawyer representing the neighbors harmed by the location near their homes, chosen by the company for the installation of an antenna, whose action is covered by the State Law.
The objective of the Municipality of Antigua was a legal meeting and to assess how to jointly face an allegation or legal way, however, this has not been the result with the lawyer present, who, in his own words, acts for the benefit of the community that has hired him.
The technical and legal team are my eyes in this Town Hall of Antigua, and as mayor I will not sign any stoppage that they consider out of law, says Matias Peña, who adds, if the lawyer hired by the neighbors directly harmed by proximity, considers that there is an open legal way, then go ahead. Of course, adds the mayor, if any councilman considers the opposite and wants to sign the suspension of this action, he can do it whenever he wants.
Here the enemy is not the telephone antenna, not even the company, and much less the ownership of the land, nor the local administrations, such as the Town Hall of Antigua, but the protection that the state telecommunications law gives to the imposition of a site for its installation, which no one wants.
