Antigua approves that the Insular Hospital adopts the name of D. Guillermo Sánchez Velázquez.
– With the only vote against Coalición Canaria, the City Council of Antigua approved in plenary session the proposal of the College of Physicians of Las Palmas in naming the hospital as Hospital Insular de Fuerteventura D. Guillermo Sánchez Velázquez.
Antigua City Council in plenary session held last Thursday May 29, approved by absolute majority of all councilors, except those of Coalición Canaria, support the recognition proposed by the College of Physicians of Las Palmas to D. Guillermo Sánchez Velázquez, naming the main health infrastructure, the Hospital Insular de Fuerteventura.
The definitive name of the Insular Hospital of Fuerteventura is in procedure and not defined by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, so the Medical Association of Las Palmas proposes the name of the Insular Hospital of Fuerteventura D. Guillermo Sánchez Velázquez.
A proposal, says the mayor, Matias Peña, that we pick up and approve without any doubt in the City Council of Antigua to echo the social and neighborhood demand that vindicates the work developed by D. Guillermo Sanchez Velazquez, not only exercising his office in every corner of the island but as a promoter of that today there is a health network on the island, participating in the construction of the first public clinic in the capital.
In addition, adds the mayor, the proposal that we support does not come from a political body, but from a main body in the Canary Health, as is the College of Physicians of Las Palmas, with which we agree to recognize the historical, professional and commitment of D. Guillermo Sanchez Velazquez with the island and its link therefore with the Island Hospital of Fuerteventura.
The motion of the College of Physicians presented by Councilman Jonathan Peña, was supported in plenary session by all councilors present, except the representatives of CC, being therefore approved by absolute majority, proceeding to transfer to the Government of the Canary Islands, Cabildo of Fuerteventura and municipalities for final approval.
