The Cabildo of Fuerteventura announces the jury’s decision for the Distinguished Tourism Awards 2025, whose delivery will take place on September 27. The winners have been proposed by a professional jury, meeting this Wednesday, according to the new rules of the distinctions that were approved by the Governing Council of the Tourism Board on March 21.
The Golden Beaches awards are given to Conatvs winery in the category ‘Company’, to Grupo Catamaran Excursion in the category ‘Blue Destination’ and Maria Alonso del Pino Brito, owner and manager of the restaurant La Jaula de Oro de Ajuy in the category ‘Individual Trajectory’. In addition, the uninterrupted loyalty to Fuerteventura of Holger Ziechert, who will receive the Golden Beaches ‘Client’ award, will be recognized.
The winners were selected by the professional jury from among the proposals received in due time and form, while the awards will be presented at the Distinguished Tourism Awards gala, to be held next September.
The president of the Cabildo, Lola Garcia, and the Councillor for Tourism, Marlene Figueroa, put in value awards that recognize the work of professionals in the tourism sector to make Fuerteventura a destination with quality services, always prioritizing respect for the environment.
Lola Garcia and Marlene Figueroa congratulate the winners and awardees, as well as the other candidates, defining all as justly deserving of the distinctions and demonstrating with their good work the excellence of the tourism sector in Fuerteventura.
The candidacies have been evaluated by an expert jury constituted for this purpose, recognizing their commitment and contribution to the promotion and improvement of the tourism industry, the implementation of tourism and environmental quality systems, and their commitment to professional qualification, among other evaluation criteria.
Bodegas Conatvs, located in the town of Lajares, is recognized with the Playas de Oro award in the ‘Company’ category, for its trajectory as a reference company in inland tourism with rural identity. It is the first winery in Fuerteventura registered in the Protected Designation of Origin Canary Islands that offers a unique proposal through the production of high quality wines, integrated into a tourist experience oriented to knowledge, sustainability and cultural roots. Conatvs has been recognized with countless awards such as Agrocanarias or the international contest CINVE.
María Alonso del Pino Brito, manager of the restaurant La Jaula de Oro, is awarded the Playas de Oro prize in the ‘Individual Career’ category. Located in the coastal town of Ajuy, it is a family business of recognized prestige. Founded in the fifties of the twentieth century, it has been since then a meeting point for residents and visitors, becoming a local reference. For twenty-seven years, María del Pino has been running the restaurant while maintaining quality, guaranteeing a quality, close and sustainable catering offer through zero kilometer products.
The Catamaran Excursion Group receives the Playas de Oro ‘Destino Azul’ award, in recognition of its exceptional business trajectory, its commitment to marine sustainability and its valuable contribution to the consolidation of Fuerteventura as a nautical tourist destination of reference. Since its creation in 2013 in Caleta de Fuste, it has stood out for an innovative and distinctive approach that has allowed to diversify and enrich the offer of maritime and sports leisure on the island.
The Golden Beaches Award in the category ‘Customer’ is awarded to the German Holger Ziechert, in recognition of his uninterrupted loyalty to Fuerteventura for more than 48 years with his wife. Since his first visit in 1977, Holger has been in Fuerteventura more than 150 times, becoming not only a regular visitor, but a true ambassador of affection for the island, contributing to its international promotion through two books inspired by his experiences: ‘My Fuerteventura then and now’ and ‘My Aldiana Club Fuerteventura’.
