The delegation of hoteliers majoreros in the Professional Days organized by the Tourist Board in four German cities has received positive feedback for the winter season, with a verified increase of 1.7 percent more air seats, regular and direct, Fuerteventura with Germany.
The format of the meetings chosen by Tourism has favored a business relationship on equal terms and with full visibility of the product Fuerteventura, as the hoteliers majoreros and German tour operators have shared information “face to face, without other competing destinations or intermediaries”.
The Councilor for Tourism of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Marlene Figueroa, explains that “this exclusive promotion of Fuerteventura shows our strength as a united destination to generate attractive products that must revert in labor improvements to cause a multiplier effect on local economies”.
“In the Ministry of Tourism we strive to establish a ‘win-win’ relationship between our tourism sector and tour operators, which involves maintaining direct business contacts as equals, with mutual benefits,” he says, “because only that win-win formula will allow our employers to improve, as they should, the working conditions of their workers in Fuerteventura and thus boost other associated local economies.”
The majorera business delegation, led by the Tourist Board, has confirmed with his German counterpart the good pace of bookings for the winter season 2025/26 (from November 1 to March 31) and the increase in regular air connectivity from Germany to Fuerteventura with some 427,163 direct seats (1.7% more).
The Professional Days of the Tourist Board, with the presence of 39 hotels in Fuerteventura and the main tour operators of the German market, have been developed in Düsseldorf (on 14), Hannover (on 15), Hamburg (on 16) and Berlin (on 17 July).
Fuerteventura in Germany and vice versa
It should be noted that the tourism sector of Fuerteventura has decisively supported the initiative of the Tourist Board by sending executives from Barceló Hotels, Coral Cotillo Beach Hotel, Elba Hotels, Fergus Hotels, Hyatt Inclusive Collection, Iberostar Hotels, LIVVO Hotels, Princess Hotels and R2 Hotels. These chains represent more than half of the three to five star hotels operating in Fuerteventura.
The German market is key in Fuerteventura, where it contributes almost 32 percent of the total number of tourists. Data from last year 2024 show that the island received 769,847 German tourists, with 801,502 passengers coming from German airports on direct flights.
The typical German tourist has an average daily expenditure at destination of more than 169 euros. Invests about 1,700 euros on his trip to Fuerteventura, with an average stay of more than 10 days. The average age of Germans visiting Fuerteventura is 48 years old and almost half of them travel as a couple but without children. The main motivation for Germans to travel to Fuerteventura is relaxation and interaction with nature, heritage, culture and local customs.
