Lola García requests the Port Authority of Las Palmas to rehabilitate a facility that is in serious deterioration, in an area of special natural and scenic attraction.
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has requested immediate actions to repair and improve the installation known as Punta Pesebre lighthouse, located in the southwest corner of the island, in the Natural Park of Jandia. The president of the Cabildo, Lola García, has written to the Port Authority of Las Palmas to express her concern about the state of conservation of the lighthouse, which is in an advanced state of deterioration, with detachments, structural cracks and a general aspect of abandonment that seriously damages the image of the environment. This situation not only calls into question the safety and conservation of the building, but also affects the image of Fuerteventura.
This infrastructure of technical and maritime relevance, also has an important symbolic value, being located in an area of special natural and scenic attraction. For this reason, the Cabildo is requesting immediate action to undertake the necessary repairs and improvements to the facility, “while we are available for any collaboration that may be necessary, hoping for a favorable response from the Port Authority, convinced that the conservation of heritage and infrastructure should be an institutional priority,” concludes García.
