A strategic alliance to continue building a fairer, more inclusive and safer municipality for all people.
The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, accompanied by the Councilor for Equality, Diversity and LGTBI, Tacoremi Gutiérrez, has signed, on Monday morning, July 14, a collaboration agreement with the president of the Federation of Women’s Associations Arena and Laurisilva (FAMAL), Olga Maria Barrera, with the aim of giving continuity to the Program of awareness and prevention of gender violence and dynamization of the Feminist Library Lorenza Machín.
This agreement establishes the framework for joint action between the City Council and the Federation for the implementation of an ambitious project aimed at promoting equality, preventing gender violence and promoting a space for learning and citizen participation.
The Lorenza Machín Feminist Library will become a meeting point where activities such as the lending and consultation of a specialized bibliographic collection, book presentations, debates, literary meetings and other initiatives that promote dialogue, reflection and critical thinking on feminism and women’s rights will take place.
David de Vera, mayor of Puerto del Rosario, underlined the relevance of this initiative, highlighting that:
“We are committed to building a more just and egalitarian municipality. This agreement is a significant step towards raising awareness among our population and eradicating gender violence, focusing our efforts on education and training.”
For her part, the Councillor for Equality, Diversity and LGTBI, Tacoremi Gutiérrez, reaffirmed her commitment to equality and social justice, noting:
“From the City Council we will continue to support projects that benefit the entire community and foster a culture of respect, equity and coexistence.”
FAMAL president, Olga María Barrera, expressed her appreciation for this agreement and noted that:
“The involvement of the entire community is essential to generate real and lasting change in our environment. We will continue to work with responsibility and commitment to advance equality and the prevention of gender violence.”
The City Council of Puerto del Rosario invites all citizens to actively join this project, convinced that, with the participation of all, we can continue building a more egalitarian, safe and respectful municipality.
