The Department of Social Action puts out to tender the new contract for the management of the future Insular Mental Health Residence, as well as the Day Centers and the mental health sheltered housing program of the Island.

The new contract includes more than 50 workers for the care of these people.

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura invests 8.6 million euros in the improvement of mental health care on the island. The Island Corporation, through the Department of Social Action, has put out to tender the new contract for the management of the future Island Mental Health Residence, as well as the Day Centers and the mental health sheltered accommodation program of the Island, which will offer more than 80 social and health care places in this field.

The new contract goes out to tender for € 8,661,688.53. Interested parties have until August 7 to submit their applications. All the information can be consulted in the Cabildo’s contracting profile: https://sede.cabildofuer.es/eAdmin/PerfilContratante.do?action=verPublicacion&identif=89B85A572C6E024A

The president of the Cabildo, Lola García, has highlighted “the attention to people as one of the main priorities of the government group of the Island Corporation. With this important step, the attention and care received by the people who need it most is improved, in this case, in the field of mental health, fulfilling a demand that has been very much demanded by patients and their families”.

The Insular Mental Health Residence will have 20 places, with a planned modification to 30 places, plus 5 places in the family respite and emergency residential care program. “This resource will provide comprehensive care to improve the quality of life of users, promoting not only their accommodation, care and recovery, but also the promotion of their autonomy and personal and social skills,” explains the Councilor for Social Action, Víctor Alonso.

The Psychosocial Rehabilitation Day Centers in Gran Tarajal and Puerto del Rosario have twenty places each. In addition, there is the Service for the Promotion of Personal Autonomy at home (SPAP), as well as the programs of supervised lodging in boarding houses and supervised housing.

Thanks to the new contract, the services will be offered with more than 50 workers (social workers, occupational therapists, social integration technicians, caregivers, educators, among other profiles). The Canary Health Service, through an agreement with the Cabildo, also provides different professional profiles such as nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers.
