Final approval of Antigua’s Municipal Budget for more than 20 million euros
– The largest Municipal Budget approved in the Municipality of Antigua comes into force this week since its publication in the Official Gazette of the province of Las Palmas.
In an extraordinary plenary session held this Tuesday morning at the Antigua Town Hall, the largest Municipal Budget in the history of Antigua, for 20,649,791.19 euros, presenting an increase over the previous year of 773,800 euros, was finally and unanimously approved by all councilors.
The Antigua City Council maintains a stable economy in income and firm in its spending criteria, says the mayor, Matías Peña García, directly responsible for the area of Economy and Finance, and adds, guaranteeing public services, spending on personnel and strengthening aspects such as street cleaning and waste collection, allocating nearly 2 million euros to this contracting.
He highlights in the Municipal Budget the annual collaboration agreements that are maintained with social associations such as Asomasamen and AFFA, to which are added the Grants to support the necessary action to families, children or different groups that social associations develop in the Municipality. As we have been doing every year, the mayor points out, we refurbish the furniture required by some families with specific needs, such as articulated beds and equipment designed to facilitate daily acts in life, such as taking a shower or getting up.
Also in the social area, we allocated a grant nominated to the Association of the Senior Center of Antigua, in order to guarantee the trip that is organized every year for all the elderly of the Municipality.
Of course, school transportation is provided and guaranteed morning, afternoon and evening, which facilitates the movement and provides security to students who study outside the municipality, and concludes the councilman Matias Peña, and we maintain the gratuity as a criterion that identifies us, in all cultural, sports, youth and social activities that we offer during the year, thus encouraging the participation of all families, neighbors and neighbors.
