On the afternoon of Thursday, May 29, at the Casa de la Cultura, the inauguration of the Exhibition of the Students of the Art Workshop “EL PISO” took place.

For the mayor, David de Vera, “it is always satisfying to see how different generations come together, through art, with these exhibitions, where through drawing and crafts you can enjoy the talent of people of all ages”.

The Councilman of Culture, Juan Manuel Verdugo, congratulated Inma and Peñita “for the work done for so many years, training students of various ages, and offering this exhibition at the Casa de la Cultura, which is always open to different groups of artists”.

Inma and Peñita from the Art Workshop “El Piso”, thanked their many students for participating and continuing to learn and improve their talent through art in this fantastic and varied exhibition.

In this, you can enjoy the works made by children, youth and adults guided by the teachings of Inma Medina and Peñita Gutiérrez, mother and daughter, both graduated in Fine Arts. Two generations of majoreras creators, dedicated to Artistic Education, who have been transmitting their knowledge in this space for more than 35 years between mother and daughter. Countless people, young and old, have passed through their workshop “to learn to paint…. to draw….”. They have seen many little people grow up and as a result of this work, the love for art has led many of their students to dedicate their lives to this passionate world, creating a pool of young artists-creators on our island.

For them, this space is not only conceived as a space for the knowledge of the subject itself, but also as a place where we can relate to each other, develop as people, making art a tool to learn other values. The works that make up this exhibition are made by children, youth and adults, aged between 5 and 50 years. They cover disciplines such as painting, drawing, sculpture, collage …. worked with different techniques such as acrylics, oils, watercolors, tempera, inks, pencils, charcoal, wax, markers, clay, plaster, paper mache, etc … These small and great creators immerse us in their own universes, each with their own concerns, ways of doing and expressing. Their works are part of their being, of their self-knowledge and evolution.

The exhibition can be visited from May 29 to June 13.

Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 1 pm and 5 pm to 8 pm.

House of Culture. C/ Ramiro de Maeztu,2.

In front of the Municipal Library.
