In view of the statement issued by the Family Center Foundation regarding the end of the agreement for the provision of child care services and psychosocial support, the City Council of Puerto del Rosario wishes to convey a message of tranquility to the user families, especially those with children in their care.

During the last few years, the City Council maintained a collaboration with the INFACAM entity through an agreement that included two essential services: the Day Center for Children, Adolescents and Family “Lluvia” and the Psychosocial Support Service. This agreement was in force from September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2023, being extended for an additional year. After the expiration of this extension, the continuity of the services had to be regulated by means of public bidding processes, in accordance with current regulations and the indications of the municipal legal department, as no new contract extensions were possible.

Orderly transition and assured services

In this regard, the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, has pointed out that “far from eliminating services, the City Council has worked to ensure its continuity with all the legal and quality guarantees”. Proof of this is that the contracting file for the management of the day center “Lluvia” was opened on October 10, 2024 and awarded to the SAMU Foundation on January 13, 2025. Currently, this center is still in operation, providing care to minors and their families as usual.

As for the Psychosocial Support Service, the bidding process began on November 20, 2024 and the corresponding bids have already been received. This Wednesday, May 4, the Contracting Committee is scheduled to meet to finalize the awarding procedure.

While the ordinary contracting process is being developed, the City Council has been covering the service through minor contracts, as established by the Public Sector Contracts Law and the internal instructions of the Consistory itself. No significant disruption to family care has been generated.

Institutional commitment to children and families

The City Council of Puerto del Rosario reaffirms its commitment to the protection of children, adolescents and family welfare, as well as to transparency and the correct use of public resources.

In the words of the mayor, “we understand the concern that a change of management entity may generate, but we ask families to trust that the City Council has always acted with the aim of ensuring the continuity, quality and legality of these sensitive services”.

From the City Council we will continue to inform promptly of the administrative progress and the final award of the Psychosocial Support Service, and we thank all the entities that have collaborated in the provision of these resources over the years.
