On the other hand, the Department of Commerce provides details of its campaign ‘Week of the Canary Islands Commercial Enyesque in Corralejo’, an event from 26 to 30 May, in which Avenida Nuestra Señora del Carmen will host a gastro-artisanal Canary market, musical performances, showcookings, talks, workshops, tastings. In addition, a gastronomic workshop with one of the most characteristic local products of the island, goat meat, will be held in El Cotillo on May 28.

The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, points out: “Every year, we show a clear intention to bet on this celebration, the Day of the Canary Islands. The goal is to work on the dissemination of tradition, effort, hospitality and pride of our people, what we were and still are. Therefore, we are proud to continue with the promotion of our culture through commercial dynamization, gastronomy and support to our folklorists, producers, cooks and traders in the various events we have prepared.”

For her part, the Councilor of Commerce, Alexandra Martin, says: “The idea is to unite tradition, gastronomy, trade and neighborhood participation in a week that puts in value everything that represents our Canarian identity. That is why, actions like this energize our open commercial areas, create synergies between sectors and bring life back to the street.”

Finally, the Councilman of Culture, David Hernandez highlighted the importance of continuing with the dissemination of our traditions: “For us it is vital to continue to publicize our tradition, the particularities of the Canarian culture and, in short, who we are. Through folklore, dance and gastronomy we will culminate the cultural program with a very special event such as the Baile de Taifas in Lajares on May 24.”
