The City Council of Puerto del Rosario, through the Department of Education, has launched an environmental education project aimed at all schoolchildren in the municipality, with the aim of promoting knowledge, respect and conservation of the natural and cultural environment.
The initiative, developed by the specialized company “Naturalmente”, offers students the opportunity to participate in guided tours along the coast of Puerto del Rosario. During these tours, students will learn about emblematic infrastructures, discover the historical and cultural richness of the municipality, as well as its main geographical features.
The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, stressed the importance of this type of actions for the new generations: “we want our young people to grow up with a strong sense of belonging and responsibility towards their environment. Betting on environmental education is betting on a more sustainable and respectful future with our natural heritage”, he said.
For his part, the councilman of Education, Juan Manuel Verdugo, stressed the commitment of the City Council with the comprehensive training of students: “taking care of what is ours is everyone’s task. Through this project we seek to raise awareness among our students about the importance of protecting the environment and to know in depth the traditions and riches of our municipality,” he explained.
The project is part of the actions promoted by the City Council to promote sustainability, environmental awareness and the fight against climate change, thus consolidating the commitment of Puerto del Rosario with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
