On Thursday, April 10, the Instituto de Educación Secundaria Puerto Cabras Rafael Báez has been the scene of a new edition of Saborea Puerto del Rosario, an initiative that promotes the consumption of local products and highlights the work of the primary sector of the municipality.

On this occasion, the event coincides with the open day of the school, making it a perfect opportunity for students and their families to learn about the flavors and traditions of Puerto del Rosario.

The traveling stand was present until 2:00 p.m. and offered tastings of local products such as cheese, gofio and other products, as well as an attractive live show.

Taste Puerto del Rosario is an action promoted by the Department of the Primary Sector of the City Council of Puerto del Rosario, in collaboration with the public company Management of the Rural Environment of the Canary Islands (GMR Canarias), under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands. This activity is part of the regional strategy “Growing Together” and under the brand “VolcanicXperience”, which seeks to promote zero kilometer consumption and bring the products of the islands to the public.

With initiatives like this, the City Council reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of local produce, sustainability and support for professionals in the primary sector. In addition, it contributes to create meeting spaces between the educational community and local producers, promoting knowledge, respect for tradition and responsible consumption.

The mayor of the capital, David de Vera, declared that “it has been a good opportunity to learn about our products of the primary sector, and promote our traditions among students and neighbors”.

The councilman of the primary sector, David de Leon, said that “increasingly, the primary sector is demonstrating that quality is a symbol of reference of majoreros products, which is a gastronomic, social and cultural distinctive.
