Antigua has always worked on the transfer of land for a Health Center and not for a medical office in Caleta de Fuste.
The Town Council of Antigua maintains its demand for a Health Center in Caleta de Fuste and requests Health, maintaining the initial objective.
The Ministry of Health changes the qualification of the Health Center to Consultorio, a project that will hardly respond to the population demand.
Both administrations have always worked towards the common objective of a Health Center in Caleta de Fuste.
We are grateful to the Ministry of Health for accepting the plot of land ceded by the Municipality of Antigua, we appreciate any progress in health care in the Municipality, says Mayor Matías Peña García, but we would be even more grateful if these advances respond to the initial commitment and current demand, responding adequately to a growing population, considering that the number of people registered in Antigua alone exceeds 14,000.
Since in 2020 the Town Council of Antigua again promoted the request by necessity addressed to the Ministry of Health for a Health Center in Caleta de Fuste, different plots were proposed, always with the shared objective of building a Health Center, it is now when we finally accept the new proposed plot, noting that it is for a Medical Office and not a Health Center for which we have been working since the beginning.
Any progress in health care is fine, but they do not comply with the commitment to qualify and equip the Antigua Clinic as a Health Center with a permanent emergency service, nor do they respond to the need for health care in the Municipality, replacing the objective of building a Health Center with another Clinic in Caleta de Fuste. The Town Council of Antigua maintains its demand for a Health Center in Caleta de Fuste and requests Health, maintaining the initial objective.
