The municipality’s stand highlights the legacy of tomato cultivation, with educational and recreational activities for visitors.

The City of Tuineje has inaugurated this Friday its stand at the Fair of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Fuerteventura (FEAGA), which is held throughout the weekend at the fairgrounds of Pozo Negro. This year, the exhibition space of the municipality wanted to pay tribute to the tomato and the rich tomato tradition that has marked the history and agricultural development of the town.

During the morning, many schoolchildren visited the stand and were able to discover the tomato cultivation in a different way, thanks to interactive activities and the animation of a clown. This proposal has been a nod to the International Clown Festival Tran Tran, an event that has become a cultural reference of the municipality and reinforces the commitment of Tuineje with creativity and tradition.

A fair to show off local products

The councilman of Primary Sector, Jonathan Peña, stressed the importance of putting in value the local products and agricultural history of the municipality: “The tomato has been a fundamental pillar in the economic development of Tuineje and we want new generations to know and appreciate his legacy. This stand is a meeting place where the efforts of our farmers are recognized”.

For her part, the mayor of Tuineje, Candelaria Umpiérrez, highlighted the relevance of FEAGA as a platform to make visible the work of the primary sector: “From the City Council we are committed to continue supporting our farmers, ranchers and fishermen, because they are the soul of our municipality. FEAGA is a great opportunity to show our identity and strengthen our commitment to our roots”.

The Fair of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Fuerteventura will continue over the weekend with an extensive program of activities, tastings and exhibitions that highlight the richness of the primary sector on the island. The Tuineje stand will remain open to receive all visitors interested in learning more about the tomato tradition of the municipality.
